Finally back in SF and after two far away events already this October, I'm glad that this puzzle season has come to a close. I can finally focus just on staying in Palo Alto and not bringing out my suitcases every weekend. I'll add links to more news stories I see online but for now you can see that Yahoo has revealed my sudoku secret: when I'm getting in the zone, I seem to slightly stick out/bite my tongue. Intriguingly, after the link for how fast I solved it, it gives a search choice for ways to cheat at sudoku. I guess they are trying to help those who feel they can't compete with me honestly. Anyway, as Tom Petty once sang, it's good to be king.

My mystery hunt teammate Francis Heaney posted his own blog report (complete with great picture post-championship of what I called the "4th place finisher" in the beginner division who just couldn't peck the numbers out fast enough)

I didn't find that "ways to cheat at Sudoku" link very informative. :)

Are we really to believe that the tongue-sticking-out picture was the *best* one they had of you? Lorinne got a better one in one take (no demon redeye, even!):

The red eye is there, if only slightly in my right eye (also apparently in Nick's right and not his left). Still, I much prefer Lorinne's photo of me gesturing at that seven and this photo of our group than the ones that have been in the press.
